Further details: 

  • Murder: The story includes murder involving an axe. Fake blood is seen on stage.
  • References to suicide: A character looks over a bridge and thinks how easy it would be to jump in the water. A character encourages another character to “leave a note” in case they feel like “ending it all”. A character wonders if another character is “thinking of doing something stupid”. 
  • Strong language: 5 uses of the word “fuck”. 2 uses of the word “shit”. 1 use of the word “bitch”, 1 use of the word “dickhead”. 
  • Animal cruelty: The lead character has a vivid memory, depicted in a dream sequence, in which a horse is beaten to death by drunken peasants. While this is portrayed in a stylised, non-realistic way, the scene is emotionally intense.
  • Psychological distress: The lead character experiences extreme anxiety, guilt, and inner turmoil throughout the play.
  • Pedophilia: There is one scene where a 50-year-old man references marriage to a 15-year-old girl.
  • Extreme poverty and sex work: The story references extreme poverty, including one character who turns to sex work. No sexual acts are depicted on stage. 
  • Sex: There is a brief scene in which a man and woman are heard engaging in sexual activity (audio only).
  • There is also the use of haze and strobe lighting
