A free youth theatre for people aged 8-14 at Unique Community Hub, Halifax

Work with Halifax’s professional theatre company Northern Broadsides in weekly workshops focusing on skills including acting, voice, movement and creating characters.
Our acting sessions at Unique Community Hub (Halifax) allow local young people to have fun, develop confidence, make new friends and learn new skills through team building, self-expression and working together. Beginners welcome!
The youth theatre have previously performed at the Big Green Fun Day, in Iron People at Eureka! and at People’s Park Festival 2025.
Food and refreshments provided.
Access and translation support available.

Kash Arshad

Kassie Jones
Kassie is a performer, puppeteer and theatre maker based in Halifax. She trained at East 15 Acting School. She is also Production and Administration Assistant at Northern Broadsides.
During the pandemic, she was commissioned by the Indonesian Embassy to produce a recording of her shadow puppetry show ‘Herbert Finds a Home’ to be livestreamed on National Wayang Day. She also devised and directed ‘Identity’, part of Devising Festival at East 15 Acting School.

Ali Khan
Ali is a photographer, videographer and director from Halifax. He supports the smooth running of Northern Broadsides’ Park Youth Theatre, as well as more generally on our recent Iron People community project, having worked closely with our community acting and writing company. He also sits on Northern Broadsides’ Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Sub Commitee.

Is it completely free?
Yes! Park Youth Theatre is all completely free.
Will there be catering for my child?
Yes, catering will be provided. Please let us know of any allergies and/or dietary requirements in the sign-up form. We will let you know further details once you have signed up.
What do I need to bring?
Make sure to wear comfortable clothes that you can move in easily and a bottle of water. That’s it!
How can I be sure my child will be safe?
You can read Northern Broadsides’ Safeguarding Policy here. There will always be a Designated Safeguarding Officer in attendance and a First Aid trained Officer.
Is there a uniform?
No, everyone will wear their own clothes.
What will my child learn in your sessions?
Your child will have fun, develop confidence, make new friends and learn new skills through team building, self-expression and working together.
Are there any auditions?
There are no auditions.
