We’re looking for Board Members

As we look ahead to our next Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) application, we are seeking new Trustees who can support the company in developing its future strategy and help shape the next phase of our growth and direction.

The company is governed by a Board of Trustees who serve a maximum of 2 x 4-year terms. The Board usually meets 4 times a year online. Meetings are usually 2 hours each with reading time for Board papers needed beforehand. In addition, we hold one in-person Away Day each year, for which reasonable out-of-pocket expenses can be reimbursed.

We particularly welcome applications from people with characteristics that are underrepresented in the arts. We are especially interested to hear from:

  • People from the Global Majority
  • People who specialise in equality, diversity and inclusion
  • First time Trustees, especially those aged under 30
  • People from a working-class background
  • People with a disability
  • People who do not identify with traditional gender categories
  • People who live or work in Calderdale, although Trustees can be based anywhere

Deadline: Monday 12 October 2026.

Casting

We work on a project-by-project basis with Casting Directors, who will ask for agent submissions via Spotlight. Occasionally we host open / general auditions in advance of a tour. It is best to follow us on social media to find out when these are coming up.

Script submissions

We’re currently unable to accept or develop script submissions due to our resources and programming at this time. Keep an eye out for opportunities to engage with us through our annual short-story writing competition, Winter Tales, or our playwriting project, Life in a Northern Town.
